Heather is a matchmaker between people and plants. Every herbal protocol she develops is uniquely built for the individual before her.

She saw the limits of generalized medicine from an early age, and she spent years looking for a more compassionate model of care. Herbalism was an obvious choice: it empowers the individual and offers the tailored approach she had been seeking.

Heather began working in holistic health around 2003. This led her to pursue both formal and informal education to integrate therapies for the body, mind, and spirit.

She graduated with distinction from Concordia University where she did a double major in Specialization Psychology and Linguistic Science. In 2016, She graduated with the highest honours from Pacific Rim College’s Phytotherapy program. She has also obtained certification as a yoga teacher, Reiki Master, and she has received training in craniosacral, energetic, and ritual therapies.

Sydney is 3 years into the Phytotherapy Diploma program at Pacific Rim College. Her main interest is in:

  • Supporting mental health through a thorough treatment plan consisting of diet, herbal formulas, lifestyle changes, and spirituality.
  • Supporting individuals as they wean off their anti-depressants and anxiety medications– again with a proper long-term treatment plan.
  • Working with chronic health issues and uncovering the root cause while also supporting the acute symptoms along the way.
  • Using astrology as a tool to help patients understand what is going on deeper in their psyche that could be contributing to their chronic health issues. (An astrology chart reading could be requested upon after a couple of medical intake sessions to gain more clarity).

Her personality is soft and open, while remaining strong and persistent in caring for her patients. A gentle approach that it suited to each individual and their healing needs. Anna Schmidt grew up with herbal medicine as the primary form of medicine her family used. She can recall her mother using mustard plasters for bad coughs and chamomile tea for stomach cramps. Her mother ran one of the first Certified Organic market gardens in Northern BC, so she was always around plants, whether in the garden or greenhouse.

As a teenager she read about ethnobotanical uses of native plants in her free time and in 2009 she began studying herbal medicine more formally, in addition to completing a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies and Literature at Uvic. She has taken a variety of courses with many different practitioners and has come to Pacific Rim College to strengthen her clinical skills.

Her interests include herbal medicine for women’s health (from puberty to pregnancy to menopause and everything in between) and she is passionate about treating the root of health complaints, rather than only the symptoms. Since becoming a mother she has taken additional training specific to children’s health, and hopes to support families to maintain wellness with herbs. Growing up in the wilds of Alberta near my grandparents and extended family from the earliest age I was exposed to the importance of being raised by a village of humans, animals, trees and plants. This lead me to explore the philosophies, sciences and arts of explaining life. From travelling the physical world to the spiritual, studying plant wisdom, to western pathophysiology, experiencing life being born and life leaving this world I have woven together a magical approach to supporting people in healing and remembering who they truly are and how connected they are to all that is.

Hi! I’m Bianca. As a little one I was called over-sensitive and fragile; I was told that I needed to toughen up or the world would eat me. For a time, it felt like it did. The depths of self-rejection led me to substance abuse, disordered eating, and to choosing relationships that would only feed the cycles of harm. Eventually, I couldn’t stand the sight of myself. Life drove me to sink my teeth into yoga and other mindful movement practices, and I became consumed by the power of the Breath. Getting into the practice of digesting my life experiences, I learned that Relationship is at the root of everything, and that our bodies are brilliant communicators; we need only become familiar with their language.

Together, we’ll enter into a conversation with your body, and work to restore balance to your system by listening for what it’s been trying to say. Overwhelmed at the thought of unravelling a lifetime of patterns? I’ll be right there with you, and we’ll take it all in small bites!

Hello everyone, my name is David Santana. I came to the path of medicine, as many do, through the search for my own healing that would allow me to recover from an arm injury and enable me to continue my career as a professional guitarist. Music has always been my passion and devotion, having studied a bachelor in music and having played guitar around the world on cruise ships. Towards the end of my studies in Chinese medicine, and to my amazement, my arms began to feel strong enough for me to play professionally again. More importantly, however, through the whole healing process, I developed much more compassion and care for the suffering that we all experience from time to time, be it psychological, physical, or spiritual. It’s my privilege and profound intention to help to ease the pain, and facilitate the healing of those who connect with me in this path. My interests are very wide; musculoskeletal, digestive disorders, gynecology, mental/emotional/spiritual disorders, just to name the most common conditions I see at my clinic. I look forward to meeting you and being of service to your growth and health.

After many years of exploring other interests, Michelle discovered her passion in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Her upbringing was built upon a strong foundation in natural healing modalities and she is delighted for her future in acupuncture and herbal medicine.

Michelle was introduced to acupuncture while playing 5 years of college volleyball, during which she studied to become a Pastry Chef and then attended Business School. She then moved to the Czech Republic to play professional volleyball for a season. She nearly began her studies at PRC in 2017 before ultimately deciding to move to England for 2 years to work as an au pair and study to be a Vegan Natural Chef at The College of Naturopathic Medicine in London.

Upon moving back to Canada she decided it was the perfect time to start her journey of studying Chinese Medicine and has been loving every step of the way so far.

“The thing I love most about Chinese Medicine is that each patient is seen as an individual and therefore treated as such. There is no ‘one size fits all’ approach, and this is crucial in healing.”
